Delivery Costs / Where Do You Deliver Too?

Delivery pricing is set and handled by the photographic lab I use, therefore the prices quoted within this section are only a guideline. This is by design as it effectively cuts the cost of postage (and delivery time) in half; as prints don't have to be delivered to me first before I then deliver it to the end customer. As prints are delicate and often within large packages (sometimes tubes) postage can be expensive so I have done my best to ensure that the checkout automatically applies the cheapest postage option for your order. Below are further details regarding this on a by country basis:

UK:

Royal Mail First Class £4.99 per order.

This cost remains the same (always double check the delivery costs mentioned during the checkout process) regardless of the amount or size of prints ordered.

EU:

Airsure Airmail £9.99

European orders can be sent via Airmail for products 20x16 inches or below. Unfortuantely anything above this size we cannot ship. The checkout process should automatically select the best shipping method for you and apply the cheapest price. If however you encounter any problems or something doens't look correct please stop and contact me directly with your problem and I will do my best to solve it as quickly as possible.

Everywhere Else:

Apologies but currently there are no delivery options to contries outside the UK / European Union. If you live outside these areas and are interested in prints please contact me to let me know.

How Long Does Delivery Take?

UK:

To ensure the fastest delivery possible; your order is automatically sent to my professional photographic printing lab where it is processed and delivered directly to you. The prints should be with you in about 7 working days, however due to the coronavirus this might be slightly longer.

EU:

Longer. :P

Are There Watermarks On The Final Printed Image?

No. There are no watermarks or logos on the final print.

Lustre, Glossy Or Specialist Prints? Whats The Difference?

The type of paper used (Be it Lustre or Glossy) is personal. Some people just prefer having one type of print or the other, and thats fine pick whichever you prefer. If however you are unsure of the differance or which to pick you may find the information below to be useful.

Lustre:

Lustre paper has a stippled texture that makes them very resistant to fingerprints, scratches and stuffs. The surface has a semi-matt finish which produces minimal glare and reflections. This type of paper is well suited to photographs of landscapes, although can be used for anything.

This type of paper finish is my favourite, the reason being that once you hang it on a wall, or sit it within a frame on a desk, there is far less reflections/glare than with an equivalent gloss print. Again thought this is entirely personal preference.

Gloss:

Gloss paper is something everyone is probably familiar with. It has a highly reflective (glossy) surface that provides fantastic tonal properties and accurate colour reproduction / slightly better contrast when compared to Lustre. However, it is a fingerprint magnet and is easily scratched and scuffed. This paper is more suited toward social and lifestyle photography although obviously it can be used for anything.

Although I prefer Lustre paper sometimes certain images work better in a gloss finish, however the highly reflective nature of gloss prints is something I find annoying when I have a photo on the wall and the sun hits it causing reflections. Additionally, you cannot really hand someone a stack of glossy images to look through unless they are protected in some way (like in a photobook or protective sleeve).

Specialist:

Currently there are no options on the print shop that fall under this category. However, there may be special limited-edition prints that I have decided to use a certain specialist paper with. In these circumstances I will update this section with a description of what that specialist paper is.

What is a Traditional C-Type (Chromagenic) Photographic Print?

Everyone is familiar with the standard dekstop inkjet printer, this is basically the same system most cheap print services use to print photos (albeit using glossy photo paper instead of standard A4). Prior to digital printers though; Chromagenic print techniques were used to 'print' images from a film negative to a sheet of silver halide paper. A digital C Type (Chromagenic) photographic print is exactly the same except it uses a digital screen rather than a film negative. If you've ever seen a darkroom scene within a movie or TV show its the same process of indiviually dipping the photo paper in various chemicals.

Long story short; C-Type prints have the following advantages over standard prints:

  • 100 years archival protection, which is more than standard pigment prints from an inkjet printer.
  • Stunningly beautiful colour reproduction and vibrancy.
  • High maximum density for deep blacks.
  • Pure whiteness.
  • Exceptional sharpness.
  • Are continuous tone prints, unlike inkjet prints which are halftone prints. This means there is no dots and breaks in tone and therefore gradients look much more natural.
  • The high-quality look and feel of true traditional photographic paper.
Does A Print Come Mounted & Framed?

No, unless stated otherwise you will only reveive the photographic print.
