Yes this is a real photograph! Admittedly this image was created via good fortune than anything else. If you have seen my Instagram post on joes_instography (posted 23/06/2020) then you will have seen the 'zoomed out' image that demonstrates where this particular shot came from, but allow me to set the scene:
It was a warm evening back in September 2014, I was still a sixth form student and was sat in the Man Cave (garage converted into a drinking zone), with two Matthews having a drink. Out of nowhere a beautiful Small Tortoiseshell (Aglais Urticae) butterfly flew into the garage and sat on the window ledge. I immediately ran into the house, grabbed my camera, and sprinted back. I followed the butterfly around the room for about 10 minutes snapping away, much to the bemusement of my friends, until it finally decided to land on the back of my friends shirt. I instantly started rushing to take photos before it flew away but as it happened it sat there happily for about 5 minutes allowing me to steal this magnificent photo.
No butterflies were harmed in the making of this image, it flew off into someone else's story....
